I have to make room and clean house for our move...I have some Harry Potter items that I would like to sell. I wanted to post here first since I know they will go to a good home. I'm not so much worried about price, as I am knowing they will go to a true fan.

I have a Hermione bookend, Hermione snow globe, HP Photo album set, etc. These are all still in the original boxes. I will have other stuff too, but this is the box I went through first. I just wanted to see if anyone was interested...

I also have lots of Star Wars collectibles for sale as well.

I have photos I can email you.

Please email me, or post a comment if you are interested.

Thank you!

My apologies for any redundancy, lizardlaugh is fine and well and has sent this out to some, if not many of you. Just the same, I'm posting this here (with her blessing, der), in case any of you were wondering of her well being, seeing as she moved to Texas and they had a spot of nasty rain this last week.

They got a spot of rain...Collapse )

10 years ago… Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was first published.  Nobody gave it a coming out party.  Nobody secluded themselves for the next three days just to read it.  It didn’t make the cover of Time and Newsweek.  It wasn’t talked about on MTV.  J.K. Rowling was still collecting food stamps.  It was, dare we say it, an orphan left upon our doorstep.

Now, Scholastic is releasing a 10th Anniversary Special Edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.  On this special occasion…We’re Gonna Party Like It’s 1998!

There are lots of exciting things happening in Santa Monica, CA and at Whimsic Alley for the second half of the year that I can’t wait to tell you about them all at once.

August is an exciting month for Wizard Rock lovers in Southern California.  On Saturday, August 16th the Santa Monica Public Library’s main branch is presenting the Los Angeles debut of The Wizard Rockumentary in its MLK Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.  In addition to the film, the audience will be treated to a concert featuring The Remus Lupins, The Whomping Willows, and Switchblade Kittens.  The show starts at 1:00 p.m. and admission is free.  For more information contact the library at 310-458-8620 or go to www.wizardrockumentary.com.

On Saturday, August 30th join us here at the Santa Monica store for Whimsic Alley’s Wrockin’ Summer Minstrel Show.  We’ve got six bands lined up, (so far), to entertain you.  On the schedule, (so far), are Switchblade Kittens, Marked As His Equal, The Hermione Crookshanks Experience, Wingardium Leviosa, Tonks!, and The Ginny Potter Revelation.  Start time is still To Be Determined, but we’ll probably start about noon.

Also during the weekend of the 30th and 31st of August, Whimsic Alley will be having a big sale in the store on lots of your favorite Harry Potter merchandise.  In addition, this weekend will be the last weekend you can buy Nightmare Before Christmas or Tim Burton merchandise in the store.  We’ll be closing out that “shop” to make room for new Harry Potter merchandise for the fall, and all Tim Burton movie merchandise will be marked down considerably!!!

Speaking of sales, we’re currently having a sale in honor of Harry’s birthday this week, and in the very near future we’ll be having a sale on all of your back to school needs.

We have a special deal running for a limited time right now for pre-orders of The Tales of Beedle the Bard.  Buy $50 or more either in the store or from the website, and pre-order The Tales of Beedle the Bard for only 99 cents!!!!!  Let’s see Amazon beat that!  So if you were thinking of buying your Harry Potter Halloween costume early this year anyway, do it now and take advantage of this great sale on a book you know you’re going to end up buying anyway.  And if you’re in the LA area, plan to pick the book up at our midnight book release party on December 3rd.

We are also planning a special pre-order deal for the 10th Anniversary Edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as well.  Keep an eye on our website www.WhimsicAlley.com for more details on this upcoming special.

Coming Tuesday, September 23rd, Whimsic Alley will be hosting a book release party for the 10th Anniversary Edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.  Join us for Harry Potter refreshments and entertainment and pick up your copy of the Special Anniversary Edition of the book.  We’re going to party like it’s 1998!  Keep an eye on our website or this blog for further details.

Whimsic Alley is proud to be a vendor at the 1st Annual Halloween Feast in Redondo Beach, CA on Saturday, November 1st.  Check out their website for more details on this super fun Harry Potter themed event at www.hpportkey.com

There’s more Wizard Rock coming throughout the fall, and while we’re working out the details on many events, we have a great one set up for Friday, November 14th at 5pm at the store, featuring The Whomping Willows and Justin Finch-Fletchly.  Once again, stay tuned to our website, or this blog for updates on our upcoming Wizard Rock concerts.

November has one other big event I want to share with you today.  W.A.R.T.H.O.G.S. Whimsic Alley’s Really Terrific Half-Blood Prince Opening Gala Spectacular.  On Thursday, November 20th, join us for the ultimate fan experience as we go to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in style.  Details are still being worked out, but we’re planning a full night of Harry Potter themed entertainment, food, a traditional British double-decker bus to drive us around, and great seats for HP&HBP in IMAX 3D.  Costumes will be mandatory!  The Thursday, midnight party will be 16 and overs only.  However, we’ll do the whole thing again on Friday evening, November 21st for families and those who couldn’t stay up late the night before because of work or school.  I hope to have tickets available for sale by Labor Day.  So check back and I’ll keep you posted as events and ticket prices are set.

And last, but not least, Whimsic Alley will have a midnight book release party for Tales of Beedle the Bard on Wednesday, December the 3rd.  Pre-order your book from us, then join us to celebrate the newest book from the Harry Potter universe.  I’m working out some fun special plans for this party too, plans that would rival the plans of any large book store.

So once again….if you want to know more about any of these events, keep checking back at our website: www.WhimsicAlley.com, we’ve got a new calendar of events linked from the main page.  Or you can check our blogs: http://whimsic-alley.livejournal.com/

FLAILS!!!!!!!!!!

More info here:
J K ROWLING’S CHILDREN’S CHARITY TO PUBLISH THE TALES OF BEEDLE THE BARD ON DECEMBER 4, 2008 31 July 2008 PRESS RELEASE strictly embargoed until: 12:00noon BST (07:00hrs EST), Thursday 31 July 2008 ** Exclusive deal with Bloomsbury, Scholastic and Amazon will generate millions of pounds to help de-institutionalise vulnerable children ** In celebration of Harry Potter’s birthday today, the Children’s High Level Group (CHLG), the English charity co-founded by J K Rowling and Emma Nicholson MEP to help children suffering in institutions, announces that it is to publish The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

[FAILS MORE:]

J K Rowling says: “There was understandable disappointment among Harry Potter fans when only one copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard was offered to the public last December. I am therefore delighted to announce that, thanks to the generous support of Bloomsbury, Scholastic and Amazon (who bought the handwritten copy at auction) – and with the blessing of the wonderful people who own the other six original books - The Tales of Beedle the Bard will now be widely available to all Harry Potter fans. Royalties will be donated to the Children’s High Level Group, to benefit institutionalised children in desperate need of a voice. The new edition will include the Tales themselves, translated from the original runes by Hermione Granger, and with illustrations by me, but also notes by Professor Albus Dumbledore, which appear by generous permission of the Hogwarts Headmasters’ Archive.”
